Hamden is proud to promote local businesses that are independently owned and operated. For this edition, we will feature Renée Bauer and Happy Even After which specializes in family and matrimonial law.

She considered expanding the business several years ago and approached the Town of Hamden for assistance. Bauer invested $175,000 in property improvements and received business incentives. The incentives included a three-year tax abatement on the increased value of the property and a 50% waiver of the building permit fees.Renée Bauer was an entrepreneur her whole life. Whether she was operating lemonade stands as a child or promoting a babysitting business as a teenager, self-employment was a natural fit. When her legal career launched, she had her sights on establishing her own business and she planted her firm’s roots in the Town of Hamden in 2007.

Renée’s firm, happy Even After, specializes in family law and mediation, to help families navigate a difficult time in their lives. She has authored a children’s book about divorce,Percy’s Imperfectly Perfect Family, Archway Publishing andDivorce in Connecticut, Addicus Books.

Renée Bauer is one of the most prominent legal minds in Connecticut, and her opinion is frequently sought after in the media regarding current family law issues. She was named as Litigator of the Year in 2015 by the Connecticut Law Tribune. She argued and won the case of Soderberg v. Soderberg that garnered national attention where a child successfully sued a parent for refusing to pay college tuition.
