“Attorney Kayla Steefel is a dedicated family law attorney committed to helping individuals and families navigate difficult transitions with compassion, empathy, and thoughtful advocacy. Since beginning her legal career, she has represented clients in a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, and domestic violence cases. She understands that every family’s circumstances are unique and is passionate about guiding clients through the legal process while helping them move toward a brighter future.
Before joining Happy Even After Family Law, Kayla gained valuable experience at Greater Hartford Legal Aid, where she represented clients in family law matters while also advocating for individuals seeking immigration relief through VAWA petitions and assisting clients with public benefits cases involving SNAP. Her commitment to serving vulnerable communities was further strengthened through her work with the Victim Rights Center of Connecticut, where she assisted clients with both VAWA petitions and U Visas, as well as through her internships with the Federal Public Defender’s Office and Quinnipiac University School of Law’s Prosecution Appellate Clinic.
Kayla earned her Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law in 2022. During law school, she served as a Law Review Note Editor and was actively involved in the Women’s Law Society, the Society for Dispute Resolution, and Phi Alpha Delta. She received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology from the University of New Haven in 2019.
Outside of the office, Kayla enjoys spending time with her family, reading with her book club, and expressing her creativity through embroidery and other crafting projects.”
