You may have seen her in Orange is the New Black as Beth, the “baby killer”. She was also in The Blacklist, Sneaky Pete, Bored to Death, The Big C, to name a few. She’s worked on and off-broadway and won Elliot Norton Award for her work in theater.
Her name is Finnerty Steeves and her resume is a mile long.
But she is here today to talk about the new film that she wrote, produced and starred in called before/during/after. It’s about a middle-aged actress who is suddenly forced to figure out the kind of person she wants to portray in real life when her marriage comes to an end after she catches her husband cheating after 15 years of marriage. It’s a raw, deep, heartfelt, and emotional film. I had the privilege of viewing this film before this interview and I’m so excited to chat with the star of the show.
The film takes place over the course of one day as the main character, Jennie, is auditioning for a role that triggers memories and pain of her own. She is broken, a victim at times, as she tries to hold on to him and he has already let go.
