About
Phyllis L. MacCutcheon brings almost two decades of family law experience and a calm, commanding presence to every case she handles. As Managing Attorney at Happy Even After Family Law, Phyllis leads with equal parts compassion and strategy, guiding clients through the most complex and emotionally charged moments of their lives.
Phyllis focuses her practice exclusively on family law matters, including divorce, custody, and post-judgment issues. She is a fierce advocate for her clients—especially when children are involved—and is known for her ability to simplify a daunting legal process while keeping her clients grounded, informed, and in control of their future.
“Family law allows me to help people navigate one of the hardest chapters of their life,” she says. “I’m here to ensure my clients are heard, protected, and treated with dignity every step of the way.”
Phyllis is licensed to practice in both Connecticut and New Mexico and brings a national perspective to her work. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of New Mexico School of Law after completing her undergraduate studies in French at Colgate University—an academic foundation that reflects her intellectual curiosity and nuanced approach to problem-solving.
Prior to joining Happy Even After, she practiced at a national family law firm where she helped lead the expansion into Connecticut and became a recognized voice on issues like equitable parenting and fathers’ rights. Her commentary has been featured in the Hartford Courant, and she’s appeared on FOX 61 and CBS Radio offering legal insights and real-world advice for navigating family court.
